Public Design Invited Speaker - KWON Young Gull

KWON Young Gull, President of Korean Society of Public Design
"Public Design at Crossroad"


Professor kwon holds a Bachelor's Degree from Department of
Industrial Design, SEoul NAtional University. He also completed
the course work in the Department of Landscape ARchitecture in
the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at the same
University.

He then continued his studies at UCLA where he earned his Master's
in Master's Design, and Graduate School of Engineering at Korea
University, where he became a Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering.

He wrote and translated nineteen books including "Sixteen Inssues
in Space Design," "Color and Design Business," and
"Space Syntactics in Korea, China and Japan," His specialty is in
comparative typology of space in Korea, China, and Japan, a field
in which he has published many studies. He supervised Color Expo of 2004,2005,2006, as the President of the events.

Currently, he is a member of Interior Design Educatiors Council of
Amercia, Industrial Designer's Society of America, and Color Science
Association of Japan.
He is the President of Korean Society of Public Design,
a Co-president of Public Design Culture Forum in the National
Assembly of the Republic of korea, and the honorary president of
Korean Society of Color Studies.

He is now a Professor in the Division of Design at Seoul national
University where he has served as Dean. he has recently been
appoined the chief Deisgn Officer/ Deputy mayor of Seoul
Metrpolitan Govenment.
