Seoul selected as 'World Design Capital' for 2010

Ahead of the DESIGN KOREA 2007 which will be held on COEX,
Seoul from Nov. 29, Seoul has been chosen as the
'World Design Capital (WDC) for the year 2010.

The World Design Capital (WDC) project is biennial international
competition created by Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, President of the ICSID,
to identify and recognize the cities that have effectively used design
to revive the community and improve the quality of life for its
citizens. Seoul has been designated as the World Design Capital for
the year 2010 T the closing ceremony of the 2007 international
Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) General Assembly
held in San Francisco, USA On Oct. 20 (local time),
Seoul metropolitan Government conveyed on Sunday.

Prof Dr. Peter Zec, ICSID President, WDC Founding Chair and
WDC 2010 jury member stated "Seoul's remarkable achievements
in design-led development- particulary in the past decade-
exemplify the spirit of the WDC designation."
Marc Newson, award-winning designer and WDC 2010 jury member
stated "Seoul's economic figures and its position as the center of
South Korea's rapid development speaks for Seoul's enhanced
global status as design city."

Prof Dr. Peter Zec, ICSID President, will attend DESIGN KOREA
2007 as a speaker and present "Public Design and its influence
on the economic development of a city."
